Wegman's Nut Buffet

Another PSA: I tried Wegman's brand frozen bagels and they are very tasty. I like them because they are a decent size - not enormous and worth half my daily WW point allowance. I tried the onion variety and they were yummy. :)

Wegman's Nut Buffet

I've been trying to wean myself off high fructose corn syrup. It's been pretty difficult because there's a soda machine next door to our house and I've been buying bottled Lipton tea every morning for the past I-don't-know-how-many years. The main problem is that I don't like to drink other things. I don't like milk. Juice is okay once in awhile but is generally too syrupy and/or acidic for my taste, plus it doesn't really quench my thirst. I'm not a big fan of hot drinks. I like iced tea, but I've gotten so accustomed to the corn syrupy ones that regular brewed tea tends to taste bitter to me unless I load it up with sugar, which I also don't like. And water is too boring (even flavored water), so if that's all I have in the fridge I end up not drinking enough liquids, which of course isn't good for you.

SO I discovered these drinks in what we call "the hippy section" of Wegman's...R.W. Knudsen Spritzers. They're light and refreshing, and they're made of nothing but sparkling water, juice concentrate, and natural flavors.

Mandarin Lime is my favorite, but so far grape, tangerine, and boysenberry are all really good (black cherry & cherry cola, not so good). They make light ones too, which I haven't tried yet.

Yay for yummy drinks that aren't horrible for you!

Had lunch at the Mt. Laurel Weggers today.
Chinee Foo. I still can't get behind their General Tso's Chicken. Their pork stuff is kickass though.
Y'know how the Cherry Hill Weggers has that open balcony area where you can eat and watch people? In the Mt. Laurel store it's all enclosed with just a few windows. Cuts down on the noise, but the people watching sucks.
Oh! But the store brand BBQ chips are hella amazing.
Go get some, right now.
And share with me.

Guess where I'm going today [Jul. 28th, 2006|12:50 pm]
Wegman's Nut Buffet

OMG I'm freakishly excited. All the food, the beautiful beautiful food.

I need to drag Sean there sometime so we can run up and down the isles like children. I have off from work today and we're doing a date night thing tonight. So I'm going to pick up something delicious for desert to go with the home made stew I made. Last time I was there I litterally stared in shock at all the beautiful deserts they had. Mouses covered in chocolate shells adorned with glazed fresh fruit. Torts, tarts, cakes, and confections. I nearly swooned.

If you haven't tried it yet pick up a tub of Wegman's brand reduced-fat scallions cream cheese. So tasty and a great whipped consistency. It is in a refrigerated case next to the bagels. Three cheers for convenience!

the tally... [Jul. 27th, 2006|01:10 pm]
Wegman's Nut Buffet

So I did my full grocery shopping at Wegman's for the first time yesterday. Until now, it's been smaller shoppings where I don't necessarily pick up the essentials and go more for the more exciting prepared foods, etc. Generally, I spend between $200 and $250 at Pathmark for a giant shopping when I haven't gone in awhile. I haven't gone on a really big shopping since ... end of June probably? So I was expecting to get hit hard. It wasn't nearly as bad as I expected - only $273 and that included spending $32 on steaks. I won't have to buy red meat, fish, or chicken for at least another month so in the end, we totally made out *better* than at a normal grocery store. Plus I got lots of interesting cheese!

Right now, for those fish loving folks, they have a 5lbish package of tilapia fillets for about $12-$15 depending on how big the fillets are. You can't beat that price!

Woo-hoo, new community! Please join us to talk about all things Wegmans - new food, good food, tasty recipes, etc.

We need some community icons so if anyone wants to volunteer I would appreciate it!

I picked up a large wedge of the brie, pesto, and tomato torte last night. [drool] So nummy on a freshly toasted everything bagel.

What is everyone's favorite W product?
